I wanted to share my outdoor counseling “office”. I’ve been wanting to do this since I moved my office to my house last year and all the issues surrounding the coronavirus just spurred this into high gear. I plan on only seeing 5-6 clients a week in this office (primarily those I’m doing EMDR with) and the rest will still be telehealth, though as more of the restrictions open up, I will see more clients in this space. Clients enter through my side gate to this private corner in my yard. This area has easy to clean outdoor furniture, plenty of ventilation, and we can social distance. I am blessed to have trees and bushes lining the fence around my entire yard, which also makes the yard very private. My husband and I built a screen to enclose this corner even more. This area is best in the morning (the weather is also best in the morning), so I’m going to start my sessions early in the day, and before the neighbor kids start their playing outside. Clients will have to sign a release to be seen in-person at least for the next month or so.
I’m excited to see clients in this space as it’s very serene (even when the kids are playing in the neighboring yards) and calming.
